Hardy to USDA Zone 5.     Native from British Columbia to California and Idaho, found on well-drained to dry site, in sun and shade.  

Soft, creamy white panicle type flowers in summer, after other shrubs have bloomed out. 

Used by native peoples to make arrow shafts, hence its name "arrowwood".
